Photorealistic vertical 9:16 wide shot at dusk in the dry lowland scrub of southern Ethiopia. Three enormous termite mounds rise like cathedral spires out of the flat scrub, twelve metres tall, sculpted rust-orange earth, ridged and organic. Each mound is pierced with dozens of tiny square windows glowing warm amber from within, exactly like inhabited apartment towers, with faint clotheslines and miniature ladders strung between them and thin wisps of cooking smoke rising from the peaks. A boy of about twelve in a dusty red football shirt and shorts walks home along a footpath in the foreground, small in frame, carrying a yellow jerrycan, heading toward the glowing mounds without looking up. Deep violet dusk sky above, one early star, last orange light along the horizon. Silhouettes and warm window light against cool violet, huge negative space. Shot on medium format, 50mm, deep focus, fine grain, cinematic realism.
