Photorealistic vertical 9:16 wide shot in a highland Ethiopian cotton field under a soft overcast sky. An old Ethiopian weaver in an earth-brown tunic and knitted cap sits at a traditional wooden pit loom set directly in the middle of the field, half sunk into the red soil, his feet in the pedal pit, hands on the shuttle. The white cloth he is weaving does not fall into a basket: it rises, continuing upward out of the loom in one unbroken sheet, twisting gently as it goes, and dissolves seamlessly into the low clouds overhead, so that the sky itself is clearly made of the fabric he is weaving. Rows of cotton bolls stretch to a distant treeline. Muted palette of chalk white, oatmeal, sage green and dull red earth, flat diffused overcast light, no hard shadows. Medium format, 50mm, deep focus, delicate natural grain, quiet documentary realism.
